Fertility is the ability to conceive a pregnancy, thus, infertility is the inability to conceive a pregnancy. Without specialist help, determining the cause of infertility can be difficult, which is why Intuition Private offers fertility support to diagnose any underlying issues that you or your partner might face, and to provide a treatment plan to help overcome any challenges in order to help you achieve your dream of becoming a parent.

While about 30% of the time infertility is due to factors relating to the woman, about 30% of the time it is factors relating to the man. In a further 30% of cases, the cause is due to both partners and in the remaining 10% of cases, the cause can be unknown. This is called ‘unexplained’ infertility.

Fertility plans and treatments vary, depending on your own health, lifestyle factors and preferences.
Primary infertility means not falling pregnant, despite undertaking carefully timed, unprotected intercourse for at least 12 months (or 6 months if you are over the age of 35).
Secondary infertility is the inability to become pregnant or to carry a baby to term after previously giving birth.

Genea is a world leader in assisted conception, commonly known as IVF. Genea were the first fertility company to practice in Australia, and in September 2015 the Australian and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database (ANZARD) reported Genea offered an almost 40% greater chance of helping patients to achieve pregnancy than the average of all other clinics in Australia and New Zealand.

Your partner is welcome to join you at your appointment, however it is not a requirement. Should your partner attend, they must provide a valid GP referral to ensure we can Bulk Bill their portion of the appointment. A referral is also important in instances where a semen sample is provided from a male partner (common for assessing male fertility factors where applicable).

No, you are not necessarily required to have Private Health Insurance to be a patient with Intuition Private. A self-funded patient is one who does not have Private Health Insurance, therefore simply pays for their own medical treatment upfront.
If you are a Medicare card holder and wish to claim the Medicare rebate, yes, you will require a valid referral from either a GP or another specialist to entitle you to claim your Medicare rebate. GP referrals are valid for 12 months and Specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
Your referral must be addressed to Intuition Private, or at least one of our doctors, at our North Gosford Practice address. Unfortunately, if your referral is addressed to the Gosford Public Hospital, Medicare will not accept it.
Medicare ineligible patients or patients who do not wish to claim the Medicare rebate do not require a referral to attend our practice and will be billed per our standard rates.
No, generally not. Intuition Private is a full-service private clinic with expert doctors and state-of-the-art technology, offering an exceptional patient experience each and every time therefore there is an out of pocket expense associated with most consultations and procedures.
No, Intuition Private is not an IVF clinic, however, should it be determined that your next step is IVF, ICSI or IUI treatment, our practice and doctors are affiliated with Genea Newcastle.
Yes, although you do not necessarily need to have Private Health Insurance to see us, as you can be a Self-Funded Patient. Should you wish to opt for surgery at Gosford Public Hospital, Dr Kelly Hankins’ holds a public hospital appointment and can therefore consult with you privately at our practice, consenting you for surgery for the Public Waiting List.
