A Historic Farewell: Final Day of Births at Gosford Private Hospital
Today marks a significant moment for maternity care on the Central Coast, as Gosford Private Hospital officially concludes its maternity services, with the final births taking place within its walls. For decades, the hospital has been a trusted destination for women seeking private obstetric care, and the closure is being felt deeply by patients, families, and healthcare professionals alike.
To reflect on this milestone, Dr Peta Skilbeck, Founder and Clinical Director of Intuition Private, joined Scott Levi on ABC Radio Central Coast’s Mornings program earlier today to share her thoughts on the closure and what the future holds for maternity care in the region.
“It’s bittersweet,” Dr Skilbeck said during the interview. “It’s very nostalgic and emotional time. I have already birthed my last baby at Gosford Private this week. It was a very emotional experience for all involved.”
Dr Skilbeck spoke about Intuition Private’s commitment to continuing to offer exceptional care in the evolving landscape. With the team now providing care at Gosford Hospital, and expanding services to support women through public obstetrics and gynaecological care, Intuition Private is actively adapting to ensure continuity and access for all patients.
She also acknowledged the uncertainty that many patients have felt in recent months and reinforced Intuition Private’s ongoing mission: to support women at every stage of life with compassionate, expert-led care, regardless of the changes around them.
“There’s been a lot of work happening on how best to transition our business and best support these vulnerable women in our community at the moment. There will be adjustments that need to be made to make the process as smooth as possible,” Dr Skilbeck told listeners.
As Intuition Private moves forward into a new chapter, the dedication of its team remains unchanged—and so does its promise to be there for women, every step of the way.
