Dr Mutayyab Shah is one of the most experienced and high-skilled Obstetrician and Gynaecologists (O&G) on the Central Coast. He offers vast experience at the highest level, and has a particular skill set in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole and robotic) surgery.
Dr Shah completed his O&G specialist training in the UK on the prestigious Oxford University training programme, where he undertook advanced training in high-risk obstetrics, as well as specific training in laparoscopic, abdominal and pelvic / vaginal surgery. He gained specialist registration in the UK before deciding to move to Australia.
Dr Shah moved to the Central Coast and began working as a specialist O&G in 2010. From 2010-2021, Dr Shah was the Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD). He was also the Director of Maternity Services at Gosford Private Hospital from 2013-2020.
Dr Shah is dual-board certified, having passed specialist accreditation as an O&G in both the UK and Australia.

The state-of-the-art da Vinci Xi surgical system offers a variety of advantages over traditional laparoscopy; however, both are considered minimally-invasive surgery. The surgeon performs the majority of the procedure from the robotic console. Compared to laparoscopy, the robot offers increased range of motion, improved dexterity, and enhanced visualisation, which is especially critical when working around delicate pelvic structures.
Patients are often able to go home after a short stay in hospital, and most women report little or no significant pain after surgery.
